COMPETENCY IN THAI LANGUAGE LEARNING MANAGEMENT THROUGH DISTANCE EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF 4C LIFELONG LEARNING

Abstract

This article aims to describe the competencies required for managing Thai language learning through distance education within the context of lifelong learning, with an emphasis on developing the 21st-century skills known as the 4Cs: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity. The findings reveal that managing Thai language learning through distance education requires teachers’ competencies that encompass creative instructional design, effective use of digital media and information technology, as well as the organization of activities that promote learner participation. In addition, it is essential to focus on developing soft skills aligned with lifelong learning, such as problem-solving, multidimensional communication, and creativity connected to real-life situations. In conclusion, the competencies of Thai language teachers in managing distance education should integrate academic knowledge, technological proficiency, and the 4C skills in order to enhance learners’ potential to effectively cope with the challenges of the 21st century.
