Cost and Return Analysis of Cocoa Mass Production: A Case Study of Cocoa Entrepreneur in Talung, Naluangsen Subdistrict, Thungsong District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to analyze the costs and returns of cocoa mass production. The sample was selected using purposive sampling and consisted of one cocoa entrepreneur from Taluang Cocoa in Naluangsen Subdistrict, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis. Methodological triangulation was employed to enhance the credibility and validity of the findings.
The results revealed that cocoa mass sold for 1,300 baht per kilogram, with total production costs of 299.79 baht per kilogram. Production costs comprised three main components: raw materials (44.04%), labor (4.50%), and manufacturing overhead (51.46%). The average net profit was 1,000.21 baht per kilogram. The profit margin was 76.94%, while the return on investment (ROI) was 3.33. Return on assets (ROA) was 8.97%, the payback period (PBP) was 1.18 years, and the break-even point (BEP) was 54 bags per year.
