Ethics
The ethical standards for authors
- The author shall have the responsibility to study, and comprehend the ethical standards and intellectual property matters, concerning the writing of the articles.
- The author must study and strictly comply with the rules regarding the proposal of the academic article and the research article, for the publication in Rangsit Journal of Law and Society. The reference system of the journal shall also be rigorously followed.
- The author must follow the research ethics by restraining from copying or infringing others' work. RJLS has set up a plagiarism inspection by the Copycatch program on the Thaijo website, with a limit of not more than 25 percent. This has been in effect since 30 June 2021.
- The author shall adjust and revise the article following the RJLS format as described in "Authors Guidelines", especially the format concerning the title, and the manuscript format, leading to having the same standardized publication format as others.
- The author must have responsibility and certify that the article submitted for the RJLS publication has never been published, or is in the review process for the publication by other journals.
- The author whose name is presented in the article must have contributed to the manuscript or the research. Those who have no aforementioned contribution are not allowed to put their names in the article. If we have found a violation of such prohibition, we reserve the right to immediately withdraw the article from RJLS journal.
- The author is responsible for the reference of the content, images, or tables used in their articles, by citing the sources to prevent copyright infringement. If there is a lawsuit occurs on such ground, the journal shall have no accountability on the matter, as the responsibility rests solely on the author. Further, in such case, the journal shall instantly withdraw the article from the publication of RJLS journal.
- The author shall check the accuracy of the references both in terms of the format and the content. The unread, unnecessary, or inappropriate academic documents should not be the sources of the references or have been put in the bibliography of the articles. Moreover, excessive citing should not be performed, and the citation must be in alignment with the reference format of the journal.
- The author shall revise the article according to the evaluation results from the reviewers and the editorial board within the specified period. The delay may cause the postponement of the publication, or the article may be withdrawn from the journal.
- The author should indicate the funding resources of the research (if there is any), and the conflict of interest (if there is any).
- In the articles, the author must not provide inaccurate information, whether by creating false information, forging, distorting, embellishing, or choosing to display merely the specific information that is consistent with the conclusion.
- The author should not refer to the documents that have already been withdrawn unless the statement aimed to support by such reference is related to the removal process. In such a case, it must be stated in the reference that the cited document has already been withdrawn.
The ethical standards for editor
- The editor must not publish an article that has already been published by another journal. The plagiarism inspection shall be carried out seriously with a reliable program such as CopyCat on the Thaijo website, with a limit of not more than 25 percent, to ensure the originality of the article published in the journal. If the plagiarism has been found more than the above limitation, the evaluation process shall be paused and the editor must contact the author of the manuscript for clarification, which shall be used as the support for the acceptance or the rejection to publish the article.
- The editor shall supervise and follow up on the operation of the journal to comply with the policies, purposes, ethical standards, and the code of conduct, according to the Announcement of Thai – Journal Citation Index Center (TCI) on Ethics and Code of Conduct Evaluation of Thai Academic Journals in the TCI Database on A.D.2023
- The editor must control and monitor the publication of an article that has a conflict of interest, such as the publication of one's article (as the editor or the editor-in-chief), or the publication without the quality review by the disinterested experts, etc.
- The editor is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the quality of the manuscript for publication in the journal. The selection of the articles to be published shall be performed after the review process. The consideration shall be based on the clarity and consistency of the content with the policies of the journal. The article must also contain the knowledge reflecting the theoretical perspective derived from the experience, the synthesis of the documents or the research, and the focus of the new theory, including the conceptual model, which enhances the comprehension that leads to academic research on important topics.
- The editor must not disclose any information regarding the authors and the reviewers to others who are not involved during the review process. Moreover, the identities of the authors and the reviewers shall be anonymous according to the double-blind peer review process exercised by the journal.
- The editor shall monitor and carry out the appropriate measures against the authors or the articles that are found to violate the ethical standards or the code of conduct, such as infringing or plagiarizing other people's work and claiming it as their own, etc. It is to be noted that the journal has set the plagiarism inspection program with CopyCat on the Thaijo website, with a limit of not more than 25 percent.
- The editor must strictly refrain from having a conflict of interest with the authors or the reviewers, to maintain good governance in the operation of the journal.
- The editor shall not take any part of the articles or all parts of the articles to be his or her work.
- The editor has the responsibility to publish only the researches that have correct research methodology, and provide the reliable results. The results of the research shall be taken as an indicator of whether such research should be published or not.
- In the case when the editor finds that the article should be removed from the journal as it contains any wrongfully copied or falsified information, but the author refuses to withdraw, the editor has the right and responsibility to remove the article from the journal without the consent of the author.
- The editor must consider the competency of the editorial board and should assign tasks by the abilities of each member.
- The editor shall monitor and control by himself/herself, and together with the editorial board, the matters regarding the inaccurate number and quality of the citation. For instance, requiring the author to cite the sources of information in the article, or requesting the author to correctly cite the source of information which is consistent with the content of the article, instead of the incorrect and inconsistent citation.
- The editor must control the collection of the page charge or the processing fee, to be carried out transparently. For example, imposing the rules to explicitly announce the collection process, or indicating that the cost or the conditions of the page charge collection must strictly follow the announcement.
The ethical standards for the reviewers
- The reviewer shall have the ethics to accept only the article that is in the areas of his or her expertise or disciplines, considering the importance of the content in the article to such field, the quality of the analysis, and the intensity of the work or the indication that the researches are significant and consistent with the article being reviewed, although the author did not refer to such researches in the article. Furthermore, the reviewer should not use his or her personal opinion without supporting information, as the standard to make the decision regarding the article, and should refuse to review the article which is not in the areas of their expertise.
- The reviewer should have the ethics to provide fair direct and unbiased academic feedback in the evaluation form or the manuscript, within the period specified by the journal for the review.
- The reviewer shall have the ethics to protect confidentiality and not disclose the information of the submitted manuscript to any non-related party, both during and after the review process.
- After receiving the manuscript from the editor, if the reviewer finds that he or she may have a conflict of interest with the author which can cause a lack of independence in his or her perspectives or suggestions regarding the article, the reviewer should inform the editor and deny to review the article.
- The reviewer shall consider the title of the article. In the case of the academic article, the title can be adjusted. However, the title of the research article cannot be changed, except for the amendment to correct the misspelling.
- The reviewer must not take any part or every part of the article under his or her review, as his or her work.
- If the reviewer finds that there is a part in the article under his or her review, that is identical or similar to another person's work, the reviewer must inform and provide the editor with manifest evidence.
