GUIDELINES FOR PROTECTING OF PROTECTING OF THE RIGHTS TO PRISONERS WITH SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN PRISONS

Abstract

         This article aims to study Guidelines of Prisoners’ right protection toward Sexual Harassment in prisons. The study found that regarding to Correctional Act 2017, which is a main law that enforce among prisoners. It has not legal measures to protect sexual harassed prisoners, especially the problem of personnel resource shortage in the prison including Correctional officer, Psychiatric doctor, Psychologist. The clarification Policy problems of the Department of Corrections toward Sexual Harassment in prisons and Health department policy problem in supporting harassed prisoners could be directly affect both physical and mental health of prisoners. This is a very bad effect on the body and mind to develop habits to return good people to society.

          Writer agrees that there should be an act on of Prisoners’ right protection toward Sexual Harassment in prisons. It also should include Setting guidelines or policies for prison management toward sexual harassment in prison to support those prisoners who got harassed.  The harassed prisoners should have right to be protected and heal from the sexual harassment that occur both physical and mental wellbeing.  Therefore, proposing amendments to the Corrections Act 2017, Section 59 to protecting the rights of sexually abused inmates has been made to cover inmates of all sexes.  It also includes Guidelines or policies for the prevention and opposition of sexual harassment or sexual harassment in all forms of prisons or punishments, increasing medical personnel and psychologists to provide advice to inmates.  Correctional officers also need to monitor inmates in prisons or institutions to reduce the risk of sexual abuse that may occur.
