Abstract

English is currently taught in nearly every country. As a result, many English teaching methods have been invented to make them fit with specific teaching and learning settings; flipped classroom is one of those so many approaches. Came into exist in2007, flipped classroom is defined as a way of teaching that is completely different from other teaching methods as it allows the learners to learn the content from home and go to school only to do high-process activities. The motto “study at home, do your homework at school” perfectly describes the nature of flipped classroom method. This teaching approach can be used in integrated with other teaching techniques and a variety of subjects including English language which learners take time to learn and practice language skills. The outstanding characteristic of the flipped classroom is child-centered because learners can learn the content any time at home. Throughout this active learning activity, the learners will participate in activities in the classroom designed by teachers to summarize and apply the knowledge the students gained when they work at home. However, to make the decision to adopt flipped classroom, we need to consider other conditions such as teachers’ ability, learners’ adjustments.
