Abstract

This academic article aimed to study the approaches for developing street art as a tourism resource within the tourist areas of Loei Province, utilizing the concepts of tourism development and street art. The study revealed that Loei Province developed street art in five tourist areas: Mueang Loei, Chiang Khan, Dan Sai, Pak Chom, and Phu Ruea districts, to promote and raise awareness of tourism. The research revealed that, due to a lack of distinctiveness and insufficient integration to form cohesive tourism precincts or towns by enhancing the value of street art as a tourism resource, the development guidelines were suggested as follows: 1) create or find potential public and private commercial areas suitable for tourism; 2) foster collaboration among government, private sector, and local communities to jointly identify and create appropriate street art formats; 3) define locally-specific narratives, such as spatial history, way of life, culture, and traditions; 4) incorporate interactive elements with tourists; 5) ensure the visual presentation of street art areas to be grand, powerful, and profoundly meaningful; 6) enable adaptability or evolution to introduce new works or rotate displays in response to tourism trends; 7) guarantee that street art tourism areas are easily accessible, convenient, and safe; and 8) designate responsible entities for maintenance, repairs, and the organization of art-based tourism activities and guided tours.
