Development of Nontoxic Ant Repellent Rods Used in a Household and a Training Program for Household Agents

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to 1) study the effectiveness of nontoxic ant repellent rods in a household, 2) compare the knowledge before and after training of the project regarding the development of nontoxic ant repellent rods for household use, and 3) examine participants’ satisfaction towards the training. The participants were 30 households in the areas around the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. The findings revealed that the most effective ant repellent rods was the third formula. That is frying the egg shell and mix it with white clay filler, plaster and water. With respect to the training program for household agents, the participants of the study were ask to perform a 15 item test both before and after the training. The results showed that the participants could perform better after the training as the post-test score was higher than the pre-test score, with a significant difference level at 0.05. The participants were also satisfied with the training for the development of nontoxic ant repellent rods for household use, especially when it reveals that rods could actually be used as an ant repellent.
