The Use of Mobile-assisted Language Learning for Developing English Skills of Higher Education Learners

Abstract

               One of the factors changing higher education is that the learning behaviors of the new generation have changed from the past. University students aged between 18-22 years who were born in Generation Z and grow up with the advancement of technology known as the digital age. Developing English language skills with language learning technology through mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) is the best way to reach learners using digital media. There are many applications and social media channels that students can use to support their learning effectively in response to the era of digital disruption. In this article, the author describes the nature of learning English using mobile-assisted instruction (MALL) and illustrates the advantages and limitations of learning a language using mobile-assisted language learning. The author also presents a guide to the activities found in the context of using Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) devices that are effective in supporting learning without time and space restrictions.
