Buddhism and Thai society

Buddhism is originated between Nepal and India that has been propagated in Thailand for 2,300 years ago. Therefore, the Buddha?s teaching is the important basis in terms of language, arts, culture, and tradition in Thailand to the present day, for example, Thai men have to be ordained as monks for a while. This tradition has been carried down when Sukhothai is the capital for 735 years ago. At that time, all the kings had been ordained as Buddhist monks. This tradition, consequently, has carried down until the present day. For supporting Buddhism in Thailand, there are three important institutes; house, monastery, and school. This provides stability in Buddhism.
Buddhism in Thailand has been propagated worldwide because of the representation of the religion of peace. It helps the Buddhists truly achieve peace of mind. Therefore, many foreigners have been coming to study practice Buddhist meditation continuously in Thailand.
