A Classroom Participatory Action Research for Improvement of Educational Measurement Process and Increment of Learning Achievement on Pathology Course of Medical Technology Students

Abstract

This research aims to 1.) improve educational measurement process 2.) increase learning achievement of Pathology Course. It is a classroom participatory action research. Research tools included educational measurement that was continuously improved by teachers and learners during the teaching and learning process. Mid-term examination scores were used as input information for meeting together to search for cause of the problems. Discussion, analysis and synthesis until getting an agreement for solving were achieved. Then the agreement was used for development of teaching and learning process and improvement of educational measurement. Final examination scores were used as indicator for achievement of problem solving and increment of learning achievement of the learners. Participant group consisted of 2^nd year Medical Technology students (n=49) and teachers (n=4) of Nation University. Examination scores of all students were used for statistical analysis by pair sample t-test (p<0.05). Learn to know, to pass and equity were principles to emphasized during the research process. The agreement method for solving the problem of low midterm examination results ware 1.) giving exercises with answers 2.) repeating the midterm examination for 2 times. Improvement of midterm scores was achieved. Then the final examination was also spitted into 2 times. However, due to many examinations in that period the final scores were not satisfied. Therefore, repeat final examination was done. After that, all students were passed. In conclusion, the classroom participatory action research for improvement of educational measurement process and increment of learning achievement on Pathology course of Medical Technology students were achieved.
