Luisa María Arvide Cambra, PhD, is a Full Professor (Catedrática) of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Almería, Spain. She is a distinguished scholar internationally recognised for her extensive contributions to Arabic and Islamic studies, particularly in the fields of medieval Arabic science, medicine, linguistics, and manuscript studies.

Professor Arvide Cambra’s research focuses on Arabic and Islamic studies, medieval Arabic medical texts, the history of science in Al-Andalus, Arabic linguistics, and the transmission of scientific knowledge in the Middle Ages. Her scholarly work demonstrates a strong interdisciplinary approach that bridges philology, history of medicine, pharmacology, and cultural studies.

She is the author of numerous influential monographs and peer-reviewed publications, including critical editions and analytical studies of Arabic medical treatises by renowned scholars such as Abulcasis (Al-Zahrawi) and Ibn Khatima. Dr Chantachon’s recent research includes the development of an innovative herbal pain relief belt designed to alleviate knee pain among older adults in Bang Nam Priao District. Findings from quasi-experimental studies demonstrated significant reductions in pain levels and decreased reliance on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), highlighting the potential of herbal-based health innovations in community healthcare settings.

In addition, she has collaborated on interdisciplinary research examining the adaptive use of traditional Mongolian ger dwellings, exploring their implications for health promotion and educational environments in collaboration with Dr Songkoon Chantachon.
