Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the phenomenon and truth. After having studied, it reveals that the word ?phenomenon? which means ?appearance? is derived and originated from Greek. On the other hand, when the word ?truth? in western philosophy is compared as the same meaning or the same message with the ones in Theravada Buddhism, it consists of 4 words, namely fact, axiom, reality, and the great reality. The understanding of all things with the great reality is for knowing them in reality. The reach of the reality causes the seeing thoroughly, the non-attaching of all things, and the liberation from suffering and permanence. This make ones see the world in reality, react to other things appropriately, free the mind, and reach real happiness.
