Journal Description
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) is an open-access, peer-reviewed electronic journal published bi-annually in English. AELR is a collaborative effort between the Association of Legal & Political Studies (Thailand), White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. (Thailand), and the Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University (Thailand). AELR serves as a premier platform for disseminating rigorous, cutting-edge, and interdisciplinary scholarship focusing on education and learning in its broadest sense, encompassing formal, non-formal, and informal contexts, as well as the creation, dissemination, and management of knowledge, particularly within the diverse context of Asia. The journal welcomes original research articles and comprehensive review articles, employing a transparent open review process involving at least three expert reviewers prior to publication, ensuring the highest standards of academic quality. AELR is committed to fostering critical dialogue and advancing knowledge that contributes to innovative and effective learning practices, policies, and knowledge systems in Asia and globally.
Scopes
Asian Education and Learning Review is an interdisciplinary journal committed to publishing impactful research and reviews from across the spectrum of education-related disciplines – including education science, pedagogy, curriculum studies, educational psychology, educational technology, knowledge management, and related fields. The journal emphasizes scholarship that focuses on Asia, including comparative studies within the region and between Asia and other global contexts. We welcome submissions that explore the following key areas (but are not limited to):
1. Formal and Non-Formal Educational Systems and Practices: Research on educational systems, policies, and practices across all levels of education in Asia, including both formal schooling and non-formal education programs, community-based learning initiatives, and vocational training. This includes studies of curriculum development and implementation, instructional design and delivery, teacher education and professional development, educational leadership and administration, educational assessment and evaluation, and the governance and financing of education. We particularly welcome research that examines the challenges and opportunities of promoting equity, access, and quality in education and training in the diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts of Asia, regardless of learning setting.
2. Learning Sciences and Technologies: Scholarly analysis of learning theories, processes, and technologies across diverse learning contexts, including formal, non-formal, and self-directed learning. This includes studies of cognitive science, learning psychology, instructional technology, blended learning, e-learning, mobile learning, game-based learning, personalized learning, and the use of technology to support lifelong learning. This includes research on the design, development, and evaluation of innovative learning environments and resources, as well as the impact of technology on student learning outcomes and the practices of facilitators, mentors, and trainers. We encourage submissions that explore the ethical and pedagogical implications of emerging learning technologies.
3. Knowledge, Knowledge Management, and Lifelong Learning: Research on the creation, acquisition, sharing, and application of knowledge in various organizational, community, and individual contexts. This includes studies of knowledge management systems, knowledge networks, communities of practice, organizational learning, intellectual capital, and the role of knowledge in innovation and economic development. We also welcome research on lifelong learning, self-directed learning, informal learning, and the development of learning skills and competencies throughout the lifespan. This includes studies of adult education, continuing education, and the role of learning in promoting personal and social well-being.
4. Specialized Areas of Education and Learning: Research focusing on specific areas within education and learning, such as STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), language education, arts education, special education, vocational education, gifted education, multicultural education, digital literacy, and media literacy.
5. Emerging Trends and Innovations in Education and Learning: Research on emerging trends and innovations in education and learning, including the application of new technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data) to personalize learning, improve assessment, enhance teacher effectiveness, and support self-directed learning. This includes studies of data-driven decision-making, adaptive learning systems, learning analytics, open educational resources, the metaverse in education, and the future of education and work. We encourage submissions that explore the social, cultural, and economic implications of these emerging trends. Furthermore, the journal welcomes submissions discussing lessons learned from other regions which can be applied in the Asian context.
Article Types
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) welcomes submissions of two distinct article types:
• Original Research Articles: These articles present novel empirical findings, rigorous analyses, and significant contributions to the field of education and learning. Submissions should clearly articulate research questions, theoretical frameworks, methodology, findings, and implications for theory and practice.
• Comprehensive Review Articles: These articles provide critical syntheses of existing literature, identify research gaps, and offer insightful perspectives on key issues and emerging trends in education and learning. Reviews should be comprehensive, analytical, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
Publication Frequency
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) is published bi-annually, with two volumes per year:
• No. 1: January - June
• No. 2: July - December
This regular publication schedule ensures the timely dissemination of cutting-edge research and scholarship in the field of education and learning.
Peer Review Process
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor through a rigorous and transparent open peer review process. All submitted manuscripts undergo review by at least three suitably qualified experts in the relevant field. The review process is open, fostering constructive dialogue between authors and reviewers. Final publication decisions are made by the editors based on the thoroughness and quality of the reviews, ensuring that only the most impactful and scientifically sound research is published.
Languages
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) publishes articles exclusively in English, the primary language of international scholarly communication in education, to maximize the reach and impact of the research.

Ownership and Management
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) is owned by the Association of Legal & Political Studies (Thailand) and White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. (Thailand). It is published under the academic cooperation with Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University (Thailand). ALPS is primarily responsible for academic operations, while the WTLBRC is primarily responsible for management and finances. SU has the main duties of supporting academic operations, such as serving as editors/reviewers and providing suggestions to improve the quality of the journal.

Revenue Sources, Advertising, and Direct Marketing Policy
Asian Education and Learning Review (AELR) operates without direct funding from any government or private sector. While AELR collects a submission fee from authors, the revenue generated is currently limited and insufficient to cover all operating expenses. At present, the Association of Legal & Political Studies (ALPS) and White Tiger Legal Business and Research Consultants Co., Ltd. (WTLBRC) provide the primary financial support for publishing the journal, covering the majority of its costs.
AELR maintains a strict policy of not accepting advertisements from any external entities, ensuring the impartiality and objectivity of the journal's content.
In promoting the journal and its publications, AELR attempts to avoid actions detrimental to other parties (e.g., spreading spam) and to avoid misleading information between prospective authors and publishers. The journal is committed to providing accurate and transparent information to prospective authors and readers.
