Abstract

This research aimed to (1) study the lighting and color tones in room design to convey emotions in 3D works, (2) evaluate the quality of lighting and color tones in room design to convey emotions as assessed by experts, and (3) assess the perception of lighting and color tones in room design to convey emotions in 3D works.

The research methodology began with designing lighting and color tones in a room to communicate nine emotional states, including three images representing happiness, three representing loneliness, and three representing fear. These designs were evaluated for quality by experts. Subsequently, they were tested on a sample group comprising 34 students from the Faculty of Mass Communication Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi.

The results revealed that the level of perception toward the set of images designed to convey fear was the highest ( x̄= 4.48, S.D. = 0.34), followed by the level of perception toward the set of images conveying loneliness and sadness (= 4.33, S.D. = 0.48), and the level of perception toward the set of images conveying happiness was rated as high (= 3.63, S.D. = 0.50), respectively.
